Large Scale Calorimeter
|
Large-volume calorimeter for characterizing nuclear
materials and waste
|
|
|
|
Advantages include:
Independent of the matrix.
Low cost compared with other methods, no maintenance costs
Non-destructive assay (NDA).
Possible coupling with gammametry.
General Principle
The calorimeter is of the twin-cell symmetrical heat flow type. It consists
of a thermostat-controlled block, opening at the top and surrounding two
wells (cavities), each designed to receive a container. One cavity the sample
or measuring chamber is loaded with an active product, while the other
the
reference chamber is left empty or loaded with an inactive substance.
The six surfaces of each cavity are covered with flowmetric plates (Peltier
elements) that can measure an electrical signal (e.m.f.) proportional to the
heat flow between the interior of the chamber and the thermostated block.
As the Peltier elements cover all six surfaces, virtually all the heat flow
produced in the chamber and transmitted to the exterior can be integrated.
Our Large Scale Calorimeters are available in different versions:
- 15 liters: Series 270
- 60 liters: Series 390
- 90 liters: Series 680
- and up to 200 liters on special request
