The Thermo Scientific TS 4000 Total Sulfur analyzer offers high productivity and accurate performance whilst being the most economical solution. This analyzer is capable of interference free analysis of Total Sulfur in automotive fuels containing high nitrogen and Cetane Improvers. The system fully meets ASTM D5453 methodology and the challenges of today’s 24/7 operating laboratories. Does your laboratory suffer from these problems?

  • Cetane Improve (2-EHN) can cause inaccurate detection of higher sulfur content
  • UV-F detectors may identify nitrogen as nitrogen oxide, which emits at the same wavelength as sulfur dioxide

The solution:

The TS 4000 neutralizes these interferences using new true total sulfur (TTS) technology (patent pending).  Thermo Scientific TS 4000 incorporates a high-end pulsed UV-F detector, which offers increased sensitivity and stability compared to continuous source UVF. When using ozone with the TS 4000 to eliminate the nitric oxide interference, there is still an increase in the sulfur signal that alters the results. However, by mixing the effluent with ozone before it hits the TS detector, it has been shown that it is possible to eliminate the nitrogen interference altogether.

The TS 4000 Total Sulfur analyzer includes a temperature controlled automatic sample introduction module for both syringe and boat introduction supported by the Thermo Scientific NeXYZ liquids autosampler. The dual zone high temperature furnace with a guaranteed life-time of 5 years supported with a quartz combustion tube gives you maintenance-free operation.
